Jane Beata

Jane Beata is a freelance painter who uses water colours to create these outstanding, abstract drawings. Linking in with my project, looking at figures and elements of the face I believe that Beata's work influences me greatly. I was attracted mostly to Beata's work by the use of limited paint, not only is there a small amount of water colour being used but the colours that Beata has chosen to use are very particular. Looking at the pieces, 'Forgotten (version a)' and 'Eye study in the flesh tone', has shown me that when adding colour you need to make decisions and think about how your adding it and how much of the colour your adding in specific areas. As shown in the bottom image which is the piece 'Eye study in the flesh tone', although we know that the tone of pink that Beata has used is not the exact colour that the human skin is, I believe the decision about the use of a deep pink to represent the skin has allowed the colour and highlights within the eye to stand out greatly to what a lighter and toned down pink would have. Both of the pieces have a unfinished look and I love that about them, the idea of me looking at the image and thinking about what Beata would have done next? or what colours would have been used? allows me to feel as though I become part of the work.
