Holly Hendry

Holly Hendry produced the exhibition Wrot from a new body of work  which was created for the BALTIC itself (Level 2). Hendry investigates the underneath and backsides of things, using cross-sectional cuts that make the insides become edges, showing their dirty insides. The use of sugary colours and cartoon context, examines the human aspect of laughter and death. Using materials such as plaster, powder coated steel, aluminium, cement, jesmonite, birch ply, zabrino marble, rose marbles, aurora marble, granite, mdf, polystyrene, fish tank rocks, cat litter, clay and plastic. The work in the exhibition, includes an archaeology of layered fragments like a museum diorama, resist the flatness of surface. Pulling the underneath to see the details.
