Robert Gerrard II

Looking into Domestic Interior I have chosen the artist Robert Gerard II, I have chosen to look into the piece ' A silver chandelier for eighteen lights, London 1837'. Some viewers may look at this piece as being just a simple image of a chandelier but I believe that the use of an old aged object has been effective. the fact that this chandelier is holding candles suggests to me that it is an old frame and shows that in the time of 1837 this is what would have been used to light up most of the rooms inside of a home. Although time has moved and we have adapted throughout this time to a more modern way of living such as modern technology and new creations, we as humans have still managed to keep the idea of some interior's such as the chandelier the same. Many of us today have chandeliers hanging in our homes with a very similar image and style to this one but only now we use light bulbs to source our light.
