OldÅ™ich Kulhánek

OldÅ™ich Kulhánek looks at elements of the human body, he focus upon the face and hand and believe that the symbol of his work is " the human face". I was firstly attracted toKulhánek's work by the style of his drawing's and how he puts them together almost like a collage of faces, ranging from baby to old man. I have chosen these three drawing's to look at as I think they are some of Kulhánek's best pieces of work, the idea of using baby's face's against old face's links in with my project 'age'. As shown in these images, when Kulhánek works with the face he only uses elements or half of the human face, they are then collaged back together to create a whole new figure showing the difference between a young and old face. This is one of the main aims I am wanting to show within my work. I love how Kulhánek makes his drawings look as though they have been cut up and then stuck back together, it gives a bigger meaning to the piece itself. The idea of there being space around the main elements of the piece, being the drawings, have worked to allow them to stand out and have given the overall piece a shabby, rough feel.
